Before you can have a successful home based business, you must first possess 3 "intangibles." These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

First,you must have a strong WHY.

Why MUST you have a successful home business? What is driving you? What is it that you CAN’T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?
For me, I couldn’t stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my life and finances through a little box (laptop computer) that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone’s time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children’s lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in a home based business would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

Intangible 2

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.

If you don’t believe that it’s POSSIBLE for you to have a successful home based business or make your living from home, you won’t. It’s that simple. For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money working from home. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.

There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money working from home. Just get online and do some research and you’ll find countless testimonials and stories of REAL PEOPLE making real money on the Internet. Or head to your local bookstore and you’ll find the same documented evidence of this fact. Truth is, it’s getting easier and easier to make money with your own home based business.

Called them back to say I wanted to get my money back (because I could not activate the members section); they said they will have to call me back later – which they never did… however they did give me access back to the network which I did not want… they just wanted to cover their a.sses.

On one of the leading U.S. franchise sites, entrepreneur.com, ActionCoach presently claims it has 1089 franchisees worldwide, including 445 franchisees in the US, .however when you do a verification on the ActionCoach corporate website, http://www.actioncoach.com/coachfinder.php the worldwide total comes to only 834, with only 292 in the U.S. This means ActionCoach overstates its worldwide franchise numbers by 30% and its U.S. franchise numbers by 52% !!!!!

What is Sierra Judgment Recovery?

Sierra Judgment Recovery (SJR) is a company that offers the opportunity to start a home business in the lucurative judgment recovery business. SJR provides training on how enforce the collection of a court ordered debt. Basically, you would be trained to track down and collect outstanding judgments (debt) from people who have been ordered to do so by a court but have yet to do so.  In other words, you would be a one man/woman collection agency ( but hopefully less annoying).

How do you make money?

You do the legwork to find the person and collect the money that’s owed to the judgment holder and you keep a percentage of the money that’s collected.  You negotiate your cut in advance of doing any work.  According to SJR’s website it’s not usual to negotiate a 50% to 60% fee for yourself.  An example from their site shows that its possible to earn up to $2,500 per month part time and up to $8,000 per month if you make this a full time venture.

That sounds good but I don’t want to be a collection agency?

Well according to SJR you really don’t have to be:

We are not talking about standard collection methods here! A collection agency will send dozens of ineffective, annoying collection letters that may result in only a 15% collection ratio. After that, they tend to let the judgment fall by the wayside. A judgment creditor has the legal right to seize bank accounts, garnish wages, and place liens on or seize personal property and force a sale. All of these procedures are carried out through the court system. If you choose not to, you will never even have to contact the debtor. All you have to do is occasionally have them served with legal documents through the mail.

How much money do I need to invest?

The training course  cost $155 for the electronic version and $185(plus S+H) for the hard copy version.

Is this a franchise or Network Marketing (MLM) company?

• My Scammy Senses aren’t tingling with this one. I believe this to believe a legitimate business opportunity.
• I do believe that SJR is oversimplifying how difficult the process of finding someone who owns a debt and then getting money out of them can be.
• I initially thought this would be a great recession proof business because in a recession so many people are struggling financially that judgments would have to be up.  Then I thought, well if people are broke due to the recession how are you going to get money out of them?!? I don’t think you can garnish unemployment checks.  Can you?
• I would strongly advise checking the laws of the state you live in to see if you need to be a licensed debt collector.
• Someone comment that the skip tracing (hunting down) part of the process is very difficult. she suggested googling skip tracing to get more information. I don’t have the time to do that, one some like to do it and share with the rest of us?

 Who is Global Domains International?

Global Domains International: GDI or Website.ws is a domain name registry service which offers domain name registration, website building tools and templates, web-hosting, email, and also offers an affiliate home business program allowing individuals to earn residual income by promoting the business using replicated orientation video websites with embedded referral id’s. 

How would you make money with them?

Based on a quick analysis of the company the main way to earn money through GDI is by being and affiliate marketer for them.  Basically, they set you up with a website and other marketing tools and you use these tools to get new customers for them. You can also earn residual income from bring new affiliates to the company.  Pretty standard affiliate marketing and Multiple Level Marketing (MLM) set up. 

Can you really make money doing this?

Again, based on a quick analysis I would have to say yes you can.  GDI does appear to be a legitimate domain registry company, which means they offer a real service to people looking to obtain .ws domain names for their websites. Affiliate marketing is a proven business model, although it can very difficult to earn sufficient money to be a primary income source for many people. MLM opportunities should always be looked at with great skepticism but if done correctly they can be a viable source of income. 

All that being said, I did find some credible negative information on the company but it’s nothing that would cause my Scammy- Senses to start tingling immediately like some other "business opportunities" I’ve come across.

Random Thoughts Buzzing Around My Head

• Big question here is will .ws domains ever become popular? .net domains have become a norm but .com’s are still the standard.
• Honestly, I don’t ever recall seeing a website with a .ws domain name.
• I don’t like the fact they charge their members $10 a month to host there website they set up for them. It’s standard practice to charge for hosting but I $10/month is little high
• I scanned the BBB report and found it interesting that majority of the 36 complaints filed against them are for ‘ refund issues’. That’s red flag for me. I don’t believe should drag it’s feet when they’re asked for a refund.

I’ve come across a few questionable business models in the years that I’ve been researching home business opportunities, but the one being offered by Data Networking Affiliates (DNA) is probably the most questionable I’ve seen in a long time.  DNA is a data collection company that is offering people a chance to own a home business in the multi-billion dollar data collection industry. What exactly is the business? You would be getting paid to collect license plate numbers from cars and trucks you encounter in day to day activities so that DNA then can put these numbers in a database that can sold to third parties. Oh, and recruit other people to the same thing so that you can be paid a percentage of what they make….but of course you’re not required to recruit people. Don’t let anyone tell you this is a great opportunity. If you are looking for reliable income, get a real job.

MLM Review Kings

You are paid a percentage of the Pampered Chef sales that are created at each party. You are also paid a percentage of what the people you are able to recruit into the business sell. The difference here is that the higher you move up in the company, the less money you make off the people you have placed under you. So really the best way to make the most money is to sell, sell, sell!

Network Marketing Review

Pampered Chef could be a great opportunity for those who love sales, talking, meeting new people and cooking. However, this type of direct sales opportunity may not suit someone looking to build a business beneath them and make residual income from their downline or from leveraging the internet.

My 3 Cents

My wife wanted to earn a little extra money, so she got talked into purchasing $300 worth of Pampered Chef product in order to become a consultant. She then got talked into signing up for their personal websites. She tried selling the product and using the website for a few months, but couldn’t make enough contacts, so she chauked it up as a loss and at least she got a lot of Pampered Chef products to walk away with. A few months later, they auto recharged her bank account for renewing the website (which she did not authorize and which she hadn’t used in months). She called them and they told her that they were authorized to recharge her bank account because that was their standard business practice. She told them that they had agreed when she first set it up that they wouldn’t do that and wanted it cancelled and refunded. They told her that she didn’t have it in writing and that they would cancel the website but only give her back a few dollars (nowhere close to what they charged her). We filed a unauthorized charge claim with her bank and have been now fighting this for nearly 3 months. Pampered Chef is a rip off and couldn’t treat people fairly if they tried!

Pampered Chefs have an A+ rating with the BBB. The BBB has 51 complaints filed against them in the last 36 months. All complaints have been resolved according to the report. You can read the full report here. 

MY TWO CENTS

• This business did not get my Scammy Senses tingling. This appears to be a legitmate business opportunity
• I would’ve liked their website to be a little more informative. Particularly when it comes to the compensation plan I felt that site was light on details. A video explaining the comp plan would be great
• Not being a big shopper i can’t say this with certainity but the prices for some of their products looked high to me. I wonder if consultants can give price breaks at the cooking shows.
• Speaking of the cooking shows, I have this feeling that these types of businesses that rely on home parties do better in suburban and rural areas as opposed to inner cities. I could be wrong but I just don’t see this as being an urban thing.
• I’ll use myself as an example, I’ve lived in New York City all my life and I’ve never heard of Pampered Chef before doing this review.
• One of the sites I quoted stated that this is a great opportunity for those for love sales, meeting new people, and cooking. That sounds like a SOCIAL or an ENTERPRISING personality type. Click here to discover why personality types matter in selecting a business.
• I thought the lady in first video I featured made some real good points about the hidden costs of these types of businesses. And her point about only making 20% commission is worthy of great consideration.

• You get the opportunity to own a online retail store selling pet products but they do the heavy lifting.
• Open your online Pet Store with an inventory of over 1,000 pet products.
• You help others profit from the Internet if you recruit them as a PetShop.biz Independent Affiliate.
• You earn income from the sales of your recruits (your downline).

• My first impression of this site is that it is a legitimate business opportunity.
• My ‘Scammy-Senses’ are tingling slightly. I don’t like that there is very little independent information, good or bad, available about this company. And that fact the BBB doesn’t have them listed is concerning.
• I don’t have any pets so I can’t speak to quality of the products but they do appear to have a large selection to support the market.
• The biggest challenge with an opportunity like this is how to make your site stand out from the other people who offer the exact same products on their site.
• I’m not a fan of their website. I think they should showcase their products better. Perhaps a downloadable catalog like Shure Pets offers.
• The Personality Type that matches this opportunity is Enterprising.
