Although many people think that the 25% commission is a little low, the truth is that this is a really good income opportunity and the products have a specific and very large target market. The chances of selling are great because people who love animals enough to attend a pet party are more than likely going to purchase something for their four legged friends.

The products sold vary from person to person, since it depends on what a pet owner needs on any given day! Its best to bring the entire catalog so potential customers can look through it and find items that they like. I’ve found the foaming cleansers, shampoos, soaps, for pets to be quite popular, along with treats such as Big Bone, Pup’s Pizzas, Kitty Shrimp Cock-tail, etc.

Things That Might Make You Go “Hmmm?”

Up to this point I have kept my personal opinions and observations to myself. This section is where I give you some of my thoughts.  They are random and might not be relevant to you, but they just might make you stop and go, Hmm?

  • My “Scammy Sense” didn’t tingle once while review this company.
  • It took me a while to locate the amount of the initial investment.  I prefer when companies put that information front and center.
  • I like this business. People spend billions of dollars on pets each year, so there’s a huge market out there for someone looking to start a pet based business.
  • The website is simple almost generic when compared to a similar business site, like Avon.  I’m wondering if they did that on purpose. Trying to appeal to a certain buyer?
  • I did find the wording on most of the site distracting and annoying (i.e. “locate your purr-sonal pet consultant”). You’re a site that resolves around animals, we get it! It seems a little unprofessional.
  • The site states that the minimum investment is $149.00.  One of the Pet Consultants says that there is a $99.00 minimum, which is accurate?
  • I searched for a review the quality of the products but couldn’t find any.
  • The company has got a ton of media coverage. CNN, CBS, Fox News, NY Post, ABC, USA weekend, Denver Post, Miami Herald, and  Dog Fancy to name a few. I haven’t reviewed the coverage but I’m assuming it’s all favorable.
  • With all of that media coverage I think they should upgrade the style of their website.

    Hi,

Can somebody call me with details? I am very interested. My number is 732-xxxx-xxxx. Thank You.

  3. JenniRae

I was a pet consult for 3 months and had nothing but trouble with the company.  My orders were not sent out when they said they would be, and I'm still waiting for reimbursement  from an order placed in March 2011.  A couple of my clients did not receive their orders, and I had to pay them and now waiting for months (order place in April) to be repaid, then they are not sending the correct payment.  No one at the office answers emails, unless you get mean about it and that's not what I want to do. I was so excited about this experience and have wasted so much time and money on this company.  Their products are wonderful, but most of the items are on back order all time.  It's not worth the headache of worrying about taking people's money and ensuring their product will get to them in a timely manner.  Not to mention the shipping is outrageous!! order of $50-$74.99 are $10.50, just to give you an idea, and 25% of what you sell isn't a whole lot.  People don't order as much when they see the shipping.

  4. Unsatisfied

I'm with JenniRae. I'm STILL waiting on three of one particular item to be shipped. The item's been out of stock for a month! It's ridiculous. When I inquire about the item, I get: "The items will be in stock this week. We will schedule to ship this week." Yes, I have received the same response for a month now. I can't build a decent customer base on an unreliable company like this one. As soon as I receive those items (whenever that will be), I'm out. I'll move on to something more reliable and make up for my lost money from starting up my Shure Pets business that way.
There was another time when I had added on to an order that hadn't shipped out yet since a customer sent me their order later than when I was originally putting in a submission. Instead of simply adding to the original order, they created a new one and charged for shipping for both orders. A week and a half later (after e-mailing about it), my orders supposedly had been shipped. When I received it, it was just the first order! Not the second one. It took another 1 1/2 weeks of inquiring to get the second order to finally ship. More ridiculous-ness.
I liked the idea of becoming a pet consultant, but honestly, with the high start-up price, shipping, and low 25-percent commission rate, it isn't worth the hassle. There's a lack of communication within the company, and as JenniRae mentioned, items always seem to be on back-order.
If you ever e-mail in your orders, and then later inquire about the orders, they always ask for an order number, which you've never received. Shouldn't they just have it available to them in their computer's system, or do they write everything on paper dinner napkins instead?

Oh, and their websites are always inaccurate. Constant misspelled words (who would want to purchase items from a company that doesn't demonstrate at least half-decent English?) and some of the items listed are no longer available since they never update things.
Oh, and speaking of the website, it costs something like $50-80 annually to have the online storefront. ANNUALLY. What a rip-off.
